Page One.....

I'm starting a blog. I don't know if reading blogs is really of interest to anyone anymore, now that social media seems to be the way to get the inside info on what folks are up to. However, I am motivated by deadlines, challenges, and end results. Maybe a blog will help me make some self imposed deadlines. 

I have given myself the goal of seeing drawings or artwork of mine published... in the form of children's books hopefully, but initially, just published by someone in some form. I've written and illustrated several children's books, and have arranged some of them in rough, dummy book format. I've attended SCBWI conferences and events, taken a few classes, and I am working on my portfolio and website. 

When I can make myself or someone laugh with a drawing or an illustration, it is delightful to me. As a young person, writing our illustrating children's books seemed too much like a whim or such a long shot of an occupation, that it didn't feel like it deserved consideration. (My practical side has forever been trying to squelch my creative side, unsuccessfully). Now, I am home with my two young children, and the idea of attempting to publish children's books has become a very real goal that I strongly wish to see realized. This journey might be long, or perhaps it will take me somewhere I don't expect.
